Installing and configuring Citrix Workspace App for Design Manager

It is recommended to install the latest Citrix Workspace once your system has updated to MacOS Mojave 10.14 or higher.

For best results, if you are using Sierra or High Sierra, Receiver 12.9.1 is the preferred Citrix version.


This article will guide you through the process of installing and configuring Citrix for Design Manager on MacOS Catalina and Mojave, and create a desktop icon.

Please have your Design Manager username and password handy. This can typically be found in the Welcome to Design Manager email.


First, browse tohttps://www.citrix.com/downloads/workspace-app/mac/workspace-app-for-mac-latest.html and download the appropriate version for MacOS. This link will always browse to the latest Citrix Release.




Start the download and then double-click on the CitrixWorkspaceApp.dmg to start the installation process.



Double-click the Install Citrix Workspace icon.



Click Install.


Click Next through the installer, check the Add Account box and Continue.



Server Address: login.designmanager.com

Enter the username and password created in the account management portal (https://my.designmanager.com) or the password your administrator has created for you.



Citrix Workspace App is now configured with the server information and your username and password.

You can open the Citrix app and use the DM Pro Cloud icon to launch Design Manager.

*If you have a DM Standard Cloud, the application name will be your Company Name.




After clicking the icon, you will see the program start to launch

To create a Desktop Icon:


Choose Go from the Mac toolbar then Applications, or use Shift+Command+A


Search This Mac for DM Pro Cloud (*or your company name, if a Standard Cloud user)

Symptoms or Error

When a user attempts to launch a session from the StoreFront website, the session would be launched automatically via Receiver for HTML5 instead of native (Windows/Linux) Receivers.

Solution

To switch back to native Receivers, install a missing plug-in and allow the StoreFront web to use it.

Windows Endpoint

  1. Choose 'User (your user ID) . Note: The browser can launch the session in HTML5 too.
  2. To switch it to Windows Receiver, you need to choose 'User (your user ID) -> change Citrix Receiver... ', then select 'Detect Receiver' to let it check if any Windows Receivers have been installed:
    Note:If you want to switch back to use HTML5, also navigate here then choose 'Use light version'.

  3. If it detects a Windows Receiver, a window would pop up to let you choose whether to launch the .ica file with Windows Receiver directly, choose 'Open Citrix Receiver Launcher'. Or you could skip it, just select 'Already Installed' if you definitely confirm the Windows Receiver has been here:

Take Firefox as an example.

  1. To check if the browser loads the plugin, type 'about: plugins' in the address bar and try to find Linux Receiver plugin in the list as such:
  2. If the plug-in is not there, create the missing link: # ln -s /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/npica.so /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
    Note:
    • If this is a 64-bit Firefox, the plug-in may probably not be loaded.
    • If there is no folder named plugins under /usr/lib/mozilla/, you need to create it first.
  3. Then restart the browser, log on StoreFront website. Navigate to activate the Citrix plug-in for this website :
  4. Choose 'Activate Citrix Receiver for Linux' and 'Allow and Remember'; The ica session would not be automatically launched via HTML5.

By default, Receiver for HTML5 will only be used if the native plug-in is not installed. If the ica session is always launched via HTML5 instead of native Receivers even though there was no such setting to force the use HTML5, it may have happened that during native plug-in installation process detecting the native Receiver was skipped.
